Five Accessibility Features Every Corporate Event Should Consider

Considering accessibility improves events for everyone. Not only can more people enjoy and benefit from an accessible corporate event, but we have seen event audiences double with simple inclusive measures taken beforehand by conference organisers.

Make attendance accessible

Hybrid attendance with event platforms such as Eventee can make events accessible to people who are unable to attend in person. This can happen for any number of reasons, including physical or financial ability and family or time commitments. Hybridising a conference or event provides greater flexibility, immediately making it more inclusive. It also has the added benefit of increasing audience sizes, as delegates who might not have been able to attend are more likely to be able to access the content.

Make the venue accessible

Consider step-free access, lifts, accessible toilets, suitable seating, clear signage and easy routes around the venue. Accessibility should be considered throughout the entire event space, not just at the entrance.

Make communication accessible

Live captioning and BSL interpretation can help ensure everyone can follow presentations, discussions and networking opportunities. Our live captioning service is even easier than you think, linking to the event app so that every delegate’s smartphone can become an accessibility tool.

Create inclusive spaces

Providing a parent and baby room, quiet space and prayer room helps accommodate different needs and circumstances, creating a more comfortable and inclusive environment for delegates. An increasing number of conferences have a dedicated livestream setup in the parent and baby room so that delegates can continue to engage with the conference content while caring for their children.

Ask attendees what they need

A pre-planning delegate questionnaire can identify allergies, dietary preferences, accessibility requirements and other accommodations in advance. This allows organisers to plan proactively rather than waiting for attendees to raise their needs on the day. In our experience, delegates are not only willing but eager to communicate their needs so that they will be properly accommodated at their event.
