A recent event in The Royal Society.
At the moment, event organisers are feeling the pressure to squeeze every bit of value that they can from their events. Every pound spent in 2027 will need to show results. Organisers will be expected to turn each event into months of content: social media clips, on-demand sessions and podcasts. And we expect more smaller, regular gatherings alongside the flagship conferences, all needing slick, repeatable production.
After COVID, many events are still held in a hybrid format, allowing for better accessibility and larger audiences who can take part in conferences and events from their homes or offices around the world. It is apparent that we will continue to see hybrid events trending throughout 2027, as the ability to join in online is now an audience expectation. Reliable, resilient connectivity will be a top question in every brief, and a properly produced online experience is essential.
AI is growing into the biggest event technology trend we have seen in years. Not only is everyone talking about it during the conference or using it to build their PowerPoints, but it has changed the way events run. In our sector, AI is becoming a tool integrated in video production technology. AI will speed up captions, edits and summaries, but experienced crews will still be trusted to run the live show.
Recent conference trends have shown us that organisers want to integrate technology into events. We have built more event apps than ever, and with more interactive features such as personalised schedules, networking and even gamification.
One of the biggest event trends in 2027 is that event organisers are increasingly focussed on providing their delegates a unique, memorable experience during the conference, especially in larger events. From branded photobooths, early-morning 5ks, and tours of the city, to live bands during networking dinners, the expectation is moving from an event or conference being purely educational to being a highlight of a delegate’s year at work. We expect that this trend will continue into next year, and the ideas will only continue to get more creative.
Another important topic we have seen brought up repeatedly is accessibility. Delegates are expecting more accommodations from the events they attend, including dedicated spaces for parent and baby rooms with livestreams of the events so they don’t miss a thing, quiet rooms and prayer rooms. Live captioning and accessible formats will be essential. Sustainability is also forefront of delegates’ minds, and they want to be reassured that the environmental impact of the event is minimised.
Planning ahead is key to making the biggest impact with your event, so we would recommend reaching out as soon as possible to discuss how we can help reach your goals for your event.
